MNA FEASA DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROJECT

POSITION: PART TIME PROJECT WORKER

Mna Feasa Domestic Violence Project is a constituent group of CAPRN
which provides services to women who are experiencing or have
experienced domestic violence in their lives. Mna Feasa provides
specialised services to women which include a helpline support
service, one to one meetings, support groups working with individuals
and groups of women to increase awareness and reclaim control of their
lives, court accompaniment and outreach work in the local and wider
community.

HOURS OF WORK: This position is part time, * ½
hours per week, Monday to Friday with flexibility required.

SALARY OR PAY SCALE: Rate of pay will be decided upon level of
experience and qualifications

LOCATION: CAPRN CLG- Mna Feasa Domestic Violence Project, St. Mary's
Health Campus, Gurranabraher, Cork City.

CLOSING DATE: 8th March *

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE: 

The successful candidate will work with a team of support workers and
volunteers under the supervision of the Team Leader. The successful
candidate will offer a listening non-judgmental service whilst working
with women on the helpline, on a one to one basis and in a support
group setting when necessary. Community education and raising
awareness is an essential part of our work, and the successful
candidate will be asked to participate in outreach work.

ROLE AND DUTIES OF THE PROJECT WORK:

* To offer a confidential and non-judgmental listening service on
the dedicated Helpline
* To attend one to one meetings with women who require support in
person
* To advocate for women who require external support
* To ensure confidentiality is adhered to at all times and that
women we work with are treated with dignity and respect
* To engage in administrative work and organising of various tasks
* To liaise with groups in the local area as part of the community
education and awareness raising aspect of the position
* To produce reports and other documents as and when required
* To keep informed of any developments in the area of domestic
violence on a national level to include any changes in policy and
legislation
* To adhere to CAPRN CLG/Mna Feasa Domestic Violence Project and
Tusla policies on Child Protection
* To conduct and participate in research tailored for a target
audience

REQUIREMENTS:

The candidate should have a qualification and/or direct work
experience of a minimum 3 year period IN AT LEAST ONE of the following
areas:

* Domestic Violence Work
* Social Care Work
* Community Development and Education

The candidate will agree to Garda Vetting by CAPRN CLG

The candidate will have excellent communication skills, work well
within the current team and have the ability to work on their own
initiative and take direction from a voluntary administration group.

Proficient IT skills are essential.

The candidate will be required to attend supervision with the team and
our volunteers on a monthly basis.
